WOONBROUWERIJ BACCHUS . Conversion of a former brewery . Baasrode, Belgium

The former brewery site of the D'Hollander family is a true pearl of industrial heritage in the center of Baasrode, overlooking the Sint-Ursmaruskerk on the banks of the Schelde river.

“In order to revive the soul and magic of this site that had been closed 50 years ago, a conscious decision has been made to maximize the preservation of the industrial architecture, and to reinforce it with some contemporary interventions with the aim of repurposing it into a special residential site in the 21st century, creating a balanced synergy between old and new, between privacy and public, between sight and light...”

LOOKOUT TOWER in the Uitkerkse Polder

The Uitkerkse Polder is the medieval polder landscape between Blankenberge, Wenduine, Nieuwmunster and Zuienkerke. At the edge of this historic polder area, the visitor center was implanted in a former garbage dump. Natuurpunt wants to expand the visitor center by, among other things, placing a lookout tower against the visitor center, so that visitors have an additional element of experience.

HULDENBERG SMALL HOUSES

With the European Interreg Project 'Housing 4.0 Energy', Kamp C and the province of Flemish Brabant, together with other European project partners, set out to find ways to make zero-energy homes feasible for everyone. For the units in Huldenberg, they built six small-scale energy-efficient homes on a former camping and weekend residence site that was converted into a zone for small-scale living

Together with 8 partners from Flanders, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom, Kamp C and the province of Flemish Brabant are investigating the possibilities of innovative techniques and materials for CO2-neutral construction.

Bao Living, Bast Architecten, Inhout, Overal Architectuur, VOLTA and VMSW strive for climate-friendly homes at a competitive price, which can also be used in social housing with minor adjustments in the modular design.
